I hope everyone's summer has been going smoothly! Mine's been increasingly busy, with a community event coming up on the 25th, then the next week, a wedding to attend out of state, and then the next week after that, a trip to Wisconsin with a friend for a scrapbooking convention. WHEW!
So I have quite a few projects on the needles since my last post:
So I have quite a few projects on the needles since my last post:
Hermione's Everyday Socks! This is a Yarnathon project, very slow going because I couldn't figure out the heel (obviously, I'm further along than the photo above). Thankfully, a new friend on Ravelry helped me out and now I think I've got it. Yarn: Three Irish Girls Springvale DK in Bryn.
This Terribly Simple! shawl is really just that. The designer, Caitlin ffrench, is always cracking me up with her photos, so I just had to work up one of her designs and I am quite happy I did! Here's my first attempt at blocking with actual pins and such. Yarn: Expression Fiber Arts Merino Tencel fingering in Iced Lilac.
This is one of my favorite patterns, the Ex-Boyfriend. Just an absolute pleasure to knit, it's a quick & easy TV watching pattern and you can make it as large or small as you please. Add stripes if you want! Yarn: Malabrigo Silky Merino in Sabiduria (two skeins).
On July 4th, my father was admitted to the hospital with kidney stones and severe dehydration. His nurses were impressed with how easy and quick this Oh So Lush Cowl crochets up. You can hardly tell this was my second ever crocheting project. (Dad's much better, btw.)
This month, I've also decided to participate in two different knit-a-longs. This Summer of Love shawl is my project for Sunrise Fiber Co's Summer Shawl Knit-A-Long. Yarn shown is Indelible Sock in Melody. The second color will be Ambrosia (a shocking hot pink).
I won't share too much here, because this is my very first Mystery Knit-A-Long, by Very Busy Monkey! YAY! I don't want to spoil anyone's surprise but if you want to see more as I progress, you can check out my photos and notes. Yarn: Blue Moon Fiber Arts' Silky Victoria in Sunstone.
